About.
Born and raised in the rustbelt of Western New York, Oliver has drawn inspiration from a society that has weathered troubled waters. These waters though do not present defeat but they are merely a weight that is carried and overcome. The stories and emotions that are carried through the journey towards a better life are often overlooked by the search for the end result. It is that journey that Oliver musically and lyrically seeks to present. The adventure of life, the counter culture, the metaphysical, and the emotions that are not easily explained, only felt. As a society we feel the ever longing of love, the torment of heartache, the wonderment of beauty, the excitement of joy... These feelings are often fleeting and at times we need a reminder that each one is as important as the next. It is within that motif that songs, stories and art are birthed.
Oliver's live performances are stripped down musically and presented in an ageless fashion. A man and his guitar... Though, often he seeks the intricacies and comfort of ambient and found sounds in and out of the studio. His array of songwriting influences span decades and often find their way into Oliver's writing style. From old 20's big band to the beatnik culture, from Bob Dylan to Jeff Tweedy, Oliver spins his influences into his own eclectic sound. It is the ageless shadow that follows songwriters... To stand on the shoulders of those who came before, to tell tales of past and present... Of the now and then... The what if... It is easy to hear that this is where Oliver finds his footing.
He is a founding member the bands St. Vith and Black Glasses with whom he has warmed up stages for members of the Jerry Garcia Band, Dave Matthews Band, Trey Anastasio Band, Matisyahu and artists such as Tony Trischka and Zach Nugent.
Finding home nestled within the valley's of the Finger Lakes in New York State, Oliver is consistently gigging in and around the region.
